|
Next meeting will be the 6th of Nov. at Noodles 1900hrs, bring a new member.
We give Bernie a tip of the beret for being inducted into the Air Force Hall of Fame, congratulations Bernie. It was
good to have Bernie at the meeting and a tip of the Beret to Ken for brings Bernie, as he is hard to get a hold of
with all his travels. We would like to welcome Ronald Crecelios to the chapter I met him last year at the veterans
feed at the Golden Corral, which is coming up a great meal try it. He informed me at the time he had things to take
care of in Neb. he didn't think it would take almost a year, glad to have another member. I met another person at
the Saw tooth Pizza the other day, a disabled vet. In a wheel chair that was in SF in Nam 70 and 71, he may show
up, his wife encouraged it so time will tell; he had the wrong T-shirt on probably only one he could find a red beret
with a SF crest, so we will get him a proper shirt. He did have all the right answers, I didn't get is phone number, I
guess I slipped up. Keep your eyes open for new members.
We will cover the vet parade at the next meeting where to meet and time let’s have a good showing, only have to
walk about 2 miles at a slow pace or we can arrange a ride. Give your Representative in Washington a call and
encourage them to vote for the new Veterans benefits and not cut any funding, there are several bills pending on
funding and benefits.
Ted is still looking for inputs for the newsletter which is looking better all the time, keep it up Ted. Let’s hear from
the North and East on what’s going on, we like to hear from you

WAR WEARY
It amazes me how often we hear in the media about how “war weary” we are as a nation or as individuals.
Maybe some of the script readers on TV or reporters in “the green zone” are weary but not “war weary”. You can’
t be weary of something when you’ve done nada, zero, nothing, zilch other than run your jaws. It’s like going to a
football game, setting in the stands on your padded buns, while stuffing yourself on junk food then complaining
about how much the game cost you or how weary you are when all the effort, pain, and sacrifice was going on –
on the field – not in the stands.
When I first began to write this there were 19 young Korean missionaries, part of a medical mission team,
being held captive by the Taliban in Afghanistan. (Two of the group, including their pastor had already been
murdered). In Iraq we have four soldiers listed as MIA and believed kidnapped by Al-Quada. In Columbia we
have three POW’s. These folds can all rightly claim to be “war weary” but not those of us who’ve not spent time
on the field of play.
As Christians, involved in an endless spiritual war, we need to be careful we don’t succumb to war weariness.
Too many of us Christians here in the safety of America are unaware of the persecuted church beyond our
borders. Christians increasingly are being murdered in Eastern Nigeria, some of the more radical Islamic areas
including Iraq, Columbia, (by the FLN), burned to death or assaulted by radical Hindus in India, and arrested,
tortured, and imprisoned in China and North Korea. They have reason to be “war weary” yet they persist in living
out their faith in Jesus Christ who Himself was persecuted and crucified for His beliefs and His witness.
I can’t help thinking of Peter and John having a song fest while chained up in prison or the Apostle
uncomplaining even after being shipwrecked, stoning, imprisonment, and beatings. Whether we look at Peter,
John, Paul or Jesus Christ Himself, we find in them examples of how we can avoid war weariness in a spiritual war
that will last our lifetime or until Jesus Christ returns again in triumph. If you’re not already in the war, it’s time to
“be all you can be” and join up. It’s a total ‘volunteer army” and the CIC is looking for “a few good men (or
woman). Anything holding you back?

From The Editor
I am still looking for more people to contribute. Any good hunting stories? It does not have to be every month just if
you have something to say.
I am getting a fax for you people that do not have e-mail if you would rather get the news letter that way.
